GENERAL PLANNING FRAMEWORK
Siding & exterior cladding:
connect the next steps.
Put the scope, sequence, purchases and money in one plan. Keep assumptions separate from confirmed requirements.
Look under the old cladding first
Rot, missing sheathing, poor flashing or water damage are often found only when old siding is removed. Keep an allowance for repairs and record it separately from the main quote.
Check exterior and fire rules
Changing cladding material or colour can need approval in heritage or design-controlled areas, and walls close to a property line may have fire-performance limits. Confirm with the authority before choosing materials.
Coordinate with windows, insulation and roofing
Re-siding is the best time to improve air sealing, add exterior insulation, replace flashing around windows and coordinate with gutter or roof work. Sequence those decisions before materials are ordered.
Plan protection and access
Scaffolding or ladders, waste bins and protection for plants and neighbours affect cost and schedule. Record who arranges them.
These are general workflow suggestions, not a construction method, design, code interpretation or local cost estimate. Template durations are illustrative and have not been reviewed for your property. Ask qualified professionals and the responsible authority to confirm what applies.
