GENERAL PLANNING FRAMEWORK

Kitchen renovation:
connect the next steps.

Put the scope, sequence, purchases and money in one plan. Keep assumptions separate from confirmed requirements.

1

Start with the decisions that affect other work

Describe whether you are changing the layout, moving fixtures, altering walls or replacing finishes. Keep unknown answers visible. Confirm the scope and measurements with your contractor before making irreversible purchases.

2

Separate the spending limit from the forecast

Enter quotes and allowances as individual lines. Record taxes, deposits and payments separately. A deposit is part of the line total, not an extra cost. Keep contingency unallocated until there is a reason to use it.

3

Connect purchases to installation

Record supplier lead times and confirm whether they are calendar days or workdays. This planner uses calendar days for purchases. Give each item a needed stage, then recalculate the order deadline when the schedule changes.

4

Use a delay scenario before accepting a change

A late delivery can move dependent work without affecting unrelated preparation. Preview the changed dates and review bookings with your contractor. The result is a planning scenario, not a commitment from suppliers or trades.

Plan first. Confirm before work.

These are general workflow suggestions, not a construction method, design, code interpretation or local cost estimate. Template durations are illustrative and have not been reviewed for your property. Ask qualified professionals and the responsible authority to confirm what applies.
